Right now Mesemoa's (at that point Musumen's) MVs for their original idol songs are listed on the individual members' pages. Should we keep them on there (and add their newer stuff) or take them off? Imo those videos are more idol-related than odottemita-related and so I think they should be removed (obviously their actual odottemita videos can stay). I've read some of the previous discussions on this forum and it seems to me that this is along the same lines as Q'ulle who was previously determined to not warrant a page due to their activities as Q'ulle being idol-related, not odottemita-related. What do other people think? (if there's anyone else around. Helloooooo)
Also, there's no dance covers listed at all on MeseMoa's actual page. Is this on purpose? I feel like there should be one and people shouldn't have to go search the individual members' pages to find their actual dance information.
It appears the template for the sample videos is broken on all the pages. It's currently just showing a big blank spot where the video should be. Is there anyone who could take a look at fixing this? I briefly looked into it but I'm useless when it comes to coding and am not sure how it's even supposed to work in the first place.
I know the wiki activity has quieted down quite a bit but I hope everyone has been doing well!
Recently there have been questions of possibly raising the age limit for dancers being posted on this wiki.
As of right now, the minimum age limit is 13 due to internet laws (Such as COPPA) forbidding anyone that age or younger being posted on the wiki.
Although legally you can have a page on this wiki if you are 13 or older, it is still quite a young age so there have been questions of possibly raising the age limit (possibly to around a highschool-ish age? 16-ish?)
We have not changed any of the wiki rules in a long time so for this discussion, we would like all of your opinions on this matter!
Please leave a comment on what you think about raising the age, and if so what age you think would be a good starting point for pages to be created here!
She don't do it anymore but was one of the popular one's back in the days and are pretty sure meets the requirements, not sure how to make a page and all so wanna be sure before i begin on something
As of recently there has been an increase in people doing dance covers of Kpop songs. Due to this boom I think that we should discuss whether or not we should allow kpop dance covers&dancers on the odorite wiki.
My personal opinion is that I do not think these dancers/dance covers should be on the wiki. This wiki was made to focus on the Japanese odotemitta culture, not Kpop culture and dancing. Kpop and Odotemitta are two seperate things so I do not think they really have a place on the wiki.
If an odorite/youdorite does some kpop dance covers along with their odotemitta work I think that is fine, but if someone is soley a kpop dancer or primarily does kpop covers with an occasional odotemitta video I do not think they should have a wiki page.
So I recently noticed that Miume's age has been added to her wiki page. I do not really think we should be including her age on her page so I thought I would open discussion for it to see what everyone else thinks?
As far as I know in the past Miume as always prefered for her age to be kept anonymous. In her Songmate interview a few years ago she only included her birth day and month (December 20th) not her birth year. Along with that past interview she does include on her twitter profile that her birthday is December 20th but once again she does not include her birth year here too.On other places like her Japanese blog, NND page, her twitter page in the past, etc, her birthday is either kept to private or not even included at all.
There is also the fact that due to her never mentioning her age in the past and having no sources to prove that the age on her chinese blog is even her real age at all. We can not really say for certian that the age listed is her's or one that was made up.
I think that we should respect her wishes and just keep her "born" section to the wiki to just December 20th and not have her birth year.
On the utaite wiki, they have a little bar at the top of articles saying when someone's last upload was, which I've always thought was a pretty good idea. I see quite a few people on Tumblr etc looking for the best way to find out when an odorite has uploaded a video, so would it be a good idea for us to implement this in some way on here to let people quickly check?
I was thinking that maybe we could sort the descriptions under categories like other wikias (like the VOCALOID wiki and TV show wikis). This could help guide writting article descriptions and sort the information. As of now, article descriptions are inconsistently structured and not many people know what to write in them. It would look more professional and encourage more sufficient article descriptions by adding these I think. I propose Etymology, Appearance & Personality, Dance Style, and History as sub-headings. Any thoughts?
For example using random descriptions it would look like this with some of my suggested titles (please don't write articles like this i just need placeholders):
Miume

Miume is a popular white haired NND odorite known for her range of happy to sensual choreography.
Etymology
Miume's name derives from "Mi" meaning "beautiful" and "ume" meaning "plum." (btw this is just an example and idk if that's really how she got her name)
Appearance & Personality
Miume is most notable for her striking short white hair and bright smile. She typically dresses in vest shirts and black thigh highs. She can often be seen wearing knee length boots, ties, shorts, and sweaters. She has a fun loving spirit and tomboyish attitude idk.
Dance Style
Miume emits a happy aura as she Pon Pon Pon's her way to funky town. She commonly choreographs sexy R rated dance that aren't meant to be seen by the public eye. She's a feirce bae.
History
Miume first began uploading to Nico Nico Douga in 2011. Her popularity rose when she first uploaded her cover of Odorite's "Dancey Dance." It reached like 10 views or so and this article is just a placeholder please don't write the articles like this. Her most viewed original choreography is "Romeo and Cinderella" with Kimagure Prince. She ranks #1 in the odottemita category. In 2016, she toured with Guilty Hearts to countries.
I ask of everyone when uploading files to the wiki to please please please name the photos! With thousands of files on the wiki, it's time consuming to look for a photos when it's named DSN_0778.JPEG or CSHFOR693905KFK.JPG. Please take the extra time to name the photos something that relates to what's in it, such as the name of the dancer, song title, anything.
Also if it's not too much to ask, please:
Add the category "Art" to the photos of art, such as the photos used on the Famous Odottemita Dances pages. I browse that tag when trying to decorate the wiki or code a new template with a photo.
Add "_NND" to the title of photos containing the NND logo and "_YT" of the photos containing the YT logo. Or anything that says "niconico" or "youtube" is fine
I would like to make an event page for these events, though I am unsure if they should just be included as one page or two seperate pages.
In the past, Choukaigi was the main event/convention(?) with nico nico chou party being the concert/preformance event held in the evening, though as of this year nico nico douga has decided to split these into two seperate events, having choukaigi in the begining of the year and making nico nico chou party its own seperate event towards the end of the year.
My question is, since they were technecly considered the same event in the past should they both be grouped together into one page? or should we have a choukaigi page and include all of the past NNCP information there and then create a seperate NNCP page for all of the new information of it as its own event?
I guess what I am saying is that I am confused as to how the information for these events should be divided up.
In the newest upload to Arsmagna's youtube channel, The video about "Park Doll" and his "world tour" , I have seen that a lot of people have been getting confused over this video so I thought I would make this to clear some things up.
In the Arsmagna world, Park Doll is a friend of Park Witt who is a Kpop Idol and from South Korea. They are both played by the same person (Itton) but they are Not the same character.
Also, The "World Tour" as mentioned in the video includes all fake dates except for the last one in Japan ( the november 2nd date). They will not be preforming in New York or L.A. this year or any of the later dates. The only date that is real is the date in Japan on November 2nd.
Since the Proposed Dancer Page seems to be a bit outdated, I would really like to update it with new/more dancers who meet wiki reqirements so that we may continue to help the wiki grow.
I have also added a new "Popular Dances" category on the page so that you may now request pages to be made for your favorite dances.
If you have time, please check the page out and submit some requests!
This was just an idea, but I thought it might be cool/useful to maybe make pages featuring/explaining popular odorite related events.
For example, Nico Nico Douga has Nico Nico Chou Party ( which as of this year is a seperate event from Choukaigi ), The Odotemitta Off which is an event that started this year I believe ( and also which is where the origins of the 39 dance started), and in the past Nico Nico Dance Master.
California also has an Jpop summit which hosts an Odottemita contest every year.
I believe there might also be an event at a germany convention too?... though I do not know the name of it/much about it.
Since these events are all relevant to the odorite's here on the wiki ( Most of them participate in these events) and this would also help explain what these events are to fans who might not know about them, I think it would be beneficial if we made pages for them on the wiki.
I think it would be quite beneficial for NND fans to have a page or a few pages that translates common NND language. It could include common comments such as listed on the utaite wiki here, common video description words/phrases (such as "choreography," "music source," "do not reprint," and "I was allowed to dance"), and anything else relevant to watching Japanese Yattemita videos.
Perhaps we could even translate the Japanese phrases to more than English and include Spanish, French, Chinese, etc. translations. I'm not sure which languages would be necessary as many countries require citizens to learn more than one language, and typically English is one of them. But it's an idea that may be considered if this page is approved.
I feel like perhaps some of the old standards for sample videos may be outdated. I believe they currently are:
If of a solo odorite, must be a solo video
Links most iconic choreography (reguardless if it's a reprint or from their channel)
---
To start ideas rolling, I propose perhaps they could be:
If of a solo odorite, must be a solo video (same as current)
Links a reflection of their more current/usual videos (preferably from their youtube channel if they have one) -- my reasoning is so that their sample video doesn't show their debut, but rather a sample of the odorite's current state to not be misleading (see bolded point below)
Perhaps change it so sample videos don't include reprints... such as by attemtping coding a new template that links NicoVideo, not featuring a sample video, or figuring out a system of reprints.
I'm trying to look for ideas if anyone is up for the update. What do you guys think?
My main concern is that we are currently using old dance covers from years ago when the odorite first became popular. I think the wiki should rather use samples of the odorite now that s/he is popular and established to better show the odorite's essence. We may link their iconic choreography/cover in the description (most of them do already). I'm not forcing we change all the sample videos if this is in effect, I'm saying perhaps future pages should link a more current sample video. And it would allow the major sample video change of the existing pages. The same may apply to their current icons. I feel they may need to be updated. For example, Aoi is 16, not 13 anymore. He looks a lot different in his usual videos now than his early odorite time. I see the benefits of keeping the photos though.
I was thinking about making a Q'ulle page, but after looking over their information I do not think that having a page for them on the wiki would be relevant.
Danceroid danced to popular nico songs and their work is related to odotemitta which is why if someone wanted to make a danceroid page I think that would be relevant, but Q'ule is not that.
Q'ulle does dance in their videos but they are more of an "idol" group, not a dance group. all of their videos are music videos to original songs and overall are just music videos, not a odotemitta video.
They kinda remind me of musumen with the fact that they dance to original songs, but Musmen still does make odotemitta videos which makes them relvant to the wiki. Q'ulle does not do odotemitta.
Overall I don't think they should have a page on the wiki.
Reguarding all the dancers with singing activites , I feel we should include a song cover list on their pages in addition to their dance covers. Since these articles are about odorite, I feel it's important to not leave out info on the odorite.
